A collection of the artist Aušra Vaitkūnienė's memoirs about the painter Arūnas Vaitkūnas (1956–2005). The works were published in a culture blogwww.kamane.lt in 2007-2008.

"Time destroys the traces of human presence, therefore, fearing to forget the important facts of the work and life of the artist, painter, my husband Arūnas Vaitkūnas, in 2006 I started writing memories in a small notebook. I was thinking of dedicating them to our son Tomas Vaitkūnas. I wouldn't think about publishing them.

However, encouraged and encouraged by the art critic, the portalwww.kamanė.lt man I published fragments of the memoirs of editor Vida Savičiūnaitė on this internet portal. The first fragments of the memoir received positive feedback from readers.

Later, I received interest not only from former students and colleagues of the painter, but also from people interested in art. This encouraged the memoirs to be printed periodicallywww.kamane.lt on the portal from 2007 to 2008.

I had to see the work of Arūnas Vaitkūnas and the circumstances of the creation of the paintings with my own eyes. Therefore, I think I have no right to remain silent about it. Perhaps in the future this material will serve art historians writing a detailed monograph of the artist.

I relied on my memory, maybe that's why the story is uneven, broken, retellings of future events appear in past episodes. This is a loose chronology of my memory, alternating between images of the present and the past.

I tried to remember Arūnas' various stories, reasonings about art and painting as accurately as possible. I avoided the personal facts of life, maybe I didn't succeed everywhere, but "that's the smell of life" - Arūnas would say.
