The artist Šarūnas Leonavičius is a well-known graphic artist who has created illustrations for Gintaras Beresnevičius' book Lithuanian Religion and Mythology (2008), Samuel Boguslav Chylinskis' Bible: The Old Testament (2007), Maironis' poems Jūratė and Kastytis (2012). Every time when taking on a new project, he originally depicts a literary text, creates not only using various graphic techniques but also paints with oil or tempera. When creating illustrations for Kristijonas Donelaitis' poem, the artist created 20 works - twelve large plot paintings for separate parts of the poem - Spring Joys, Summer Toils, Autumn Boons, and Winter Cares (paper, oil, 76 x 122 cm; 76 x 63 cm, 53 x 38 cm) and eight black-and-white drawings. The artist relied on the multilayered nature of Donelaitis' poem, which gave him original possibilities for interpretation. The artist paid great attention to the authentic details, the spirit of the time when K. Donelaitis lived.
